Hymn # 1
- Arise, O Church
Sundays
after Pentecost – Green Season
Tune: Materna
Meter:
CMD
1. Let justice roll like living streams
through hills and vales of time.
And so bring in the Gospel dream that
we may be a sign,
- a signature of God’s own hand now
forming us anew:
bring peace to all in every land: compassion
that is true.
2. The alien, the foreigner can now
reveal God’s truth
to powers resistant and so blind
inspiring us like Ruth
as she stood by Naomi’s side grant us
the grace to be
the arms of Christ embracing all in
solidarity.
3.
Now is the day the Kingdom comes will we participate
in God’s new rule led by God’s Son
empires to abate?
The powers are naught as we arise to
speak God’s truth in love
and God will shower at this hour God’s
Spirit from above.
4. Arise, O Church, and be the hope
that Christ chose you to be.
Arise, O Church, and boldly go to set
the hungry free
with bread of life that never fails, a
table set for all.
Arise, O Church follow once more your
gracious divine call.
