How Can I Keep From Singing: Fresh Texts to Familiar Hymns

You are invited to celebrate and use the hymn texts that I will be publishing on Susbstack.  Please contact me for permission to use. There will be no fee. I want to get feedback as to where they are sung and how the fresh text is received.

These texts can also be used for your personal meditation.  Look up the tune online and then sing along.  Last week’s Substack “Arise, O Church” is the first offering.  I will serve them up in alphabetical order.

Thank you for the opportunity to leave a small legacy.

Hymn #2 - Bring Shalom

Advent or Christmas Season

Tune: Un Flambeau

Meter: 9. 9. 10. 9. 9. 8.

         1. Bring, O Prince of Peace, divine justice.

Bring justice to our everyday lives.

You are an infant born in a stable.

Lay in the hay our precious Savior.

         Peace!  Peace!

         Delivering God’s Shalom to all.

         Now!  Now!

         Now and forevermore.

         2. Bring your love Divine One now with us.

Bring your love to the places of hurt.

You indeed know our dearest of yearnings.

Deep in our hearts today be present.

         Love! Love!

         The darkness shatters, scatters.

         Come, Come!

         Come, O Emmanuel.

         3. Bring your torch, O Wonderful Couns’lor.

Healing bring to a sin-broken world.

Come in our midst uniting all peoples.

Arms reaching out welcome the strangers.

         Star! Star!

         Bethlehem’s longed for promise

         Shine! Shine!

        Now and forevermore.
