Cords

 

They can tie you in knots

or be flung over trees,

creating lovely swings

to float in the breeze.

 

They dangle at the ends

of a pious king’s robes.

They can keep climbers safe

from free falling below.

 

They wrap around liquor

so expensive and refined,

and raise flags for winners

with gold medals that shine.

 

Wedding cords bind lovers

a symbol that befits

like a finely spun garment

they are forever knit.
