The Last Book You’ll Read

When thinking of lasts:

trip,

store,

date,

game,

 

seem most common.

 

Yet, unknowingly, daily

we experience ‘lasts.’

 

Last minute:

         How was it spent?

 

Last Wednesday:

         What were you doing?

 

Last handshake:

         Who was it with?

 

Last laugh?

         What was the joke?

 

Last sigh…last yearning…breath…

 

and at the last

         will you recall

                 the very last book you’ve read?
