Orthodoxy
The Apostles’ Creed does not mention love, service, hope,
‘the least of these brothers and sisters,’ or even forgiveness—anything,
actually that is remotely actionable. (The Universal Christ by
Richard Rohr – pg. 104)
We have our faith. It is nice and neat.
We sing our hymns oft so sweet.
We believe in God, Creator,
yet forget to love the neighbor.
Our Creeds define with no commitment.
Jesus enshrined is the limit.
We pride ourselves with the Virgin Birth
while climate change destroys the earth.
We affirm the Holy Spirit
while an AR-15 still has merit.
We flock to our sanctuaries safe and sound.
Statements of faith the solid ground.
