The Good Wars

Born astride a grave.

We see the ashes fly.

We yearn for freedom

yet we know the cost is very high.

 

Two World Wars are not enough:

Korea – stalemate – no treaty;

Vietnam – debacle of lies;

Iraq I victory.

 

911 wakeup call.

Iraq II untrue

shock and awe.

Afghanistan we no longer

stand on the moral high ground.

 

We’ve got it right.

We’ve got it wrong.

Now democracy is on the wane.

We watch in rage and disbelief

the atrocities in Ukraine.
