Fire in My Bones

(The cry of Democracy)

 

“Immolation seems imminent:

 

Since I lament

         And no one confronts.

 

I speak

         And no one listens.

 

I write

         And no one responds.

 

Self-demise

unless:

 

Legislators

         Lament,

         Listen,

         Respond.

 

If not,

         The fire will consume me.”
