God’s Waiting Room
by Kenn Storck
Take a number.
Have a seat.
Join the many.
Feel free to greet.
Jack, over there
who longs to go,
sits by door #3.
Things are often slow.
Or, Mary, down the lane
of seats is in a hurry.
She loves to read
about her husband, Harry.
John, down this corridor
loves long walks
with Madeline
who ceaselessly talks.
Max, a dog of many years.
Yes, they wait, too,
with canine peers
for their master dear.
The waiting room
is every where
for those 70 plus
but be aware:
We despise the rush
of those who refuse
the latest vaccine.
We’ve had a deluge!
And war victims
are not for us.
Yet, we process them
when we must.
The room is meant
for generations passing,
for memories
that are everlasting.
So, you enter now
at three score and ten
your turn will come
this is not the end.
