*Mrs. Dupler, Doctress
(Circa 1835)
In her mansion off Botanical Street,
come to Doctress Dupler.
She has potions you cannot beat
and her craft will surely meet:
needs and yearnings
ever deep
within your soul.
Doctress Dupler’s mansion fair
has a magical, mystical flair.
Climb the steps to the attic
where she will greet you
with a stare.
Don’t dare to leave before she’s done
her complete examination.
Those who leave,
leave undone, oft end
in an untimely fashion.
But remaining there secures your way
to health, wealth, and a new day.
So, if your melancholy is great
visit Doctress Dupler
and don’t be late
so many surprises
lay in wait.
*Female doctors are rare
in 1835
and often thought of
having magical powers.
