Going Home
Brigadoon, Bali Hai, Shangri-La:
wondering why these haunt us
and taunt us, as we long for that space
somehow, somewhere Camelot will take place.
A village arising in the forest mist,
an island in a distant sea,
a mountain somewhere in Tibet,
all places of mystery.
We’re hunted, we’re haunted
wherever we roam.
These places, these spaces
keep calling us home.
A moment, a thought
in the midst of the day.
Bali Hai calling out:
“Come away, come away.”
When we are in a mist
and the fog is getting thin.
Brigadoon with new love
enters in, enters in.
Or when we seek wisdom
with nowhere to turn.
Shangri-La reappears
and allows us to learn.
We yearn and we hope
homo-sapiens that we are.
Evolved with an image
of some home left afar.
